One thing I love about living in the midwest is the changes of seasons. Sure it gets cold, but the colors are intense and it shows a wonderful transition that you don’t get everywhere in the US. The downfall though is that when it comes to having fun and photographing models the cold weather tends to make even the bravest model stay home under the covers.
I had to pleasure of communicating with Mexi through Facebook and we had been chatting a bit about working on a photoshoot together. I was excited to work with a new face and she has a look that I find to be quite awesome. We worked through text to get some outfits picked out and I had mentally set a couple of locations in my brain, but decided last minute to try something a little different.
Jason Baldridge joined us today on our adventure and was an immense help in getting ht alighting just right. I love me some human light stands especially when they are awesome like Mr. Jason. It was cold so we tried to work quickly getting lighting in place and creating a scene that really wasn’t there. After a 4 light setup and some pocket wizard issues, we started ripping away. We definitely loved the blue and it worked so well off what Mexi was wearing. Super pleased by the results and you can’t go wrong with a gorgeous model and some fun lighting.
Our next stop was further down the way into some rail cars. Again, my stance on railroad tracks is people should never be photographed on them, they are for trains and hobos. Now the cars themselves… that is a completely different story. We quickly got a lighting setup started but I wasn’t feeling it so it switched to a one light setup and viola, magic happened again. Mexi has great facial structure and really plays well with harder lighting and I’m suuuuuper happy about that. I know not every human has great skin, but I love being spoiled.
In all we had a blast and for my first shoot with Mexi I know we need to work together again soon. Major props to Jason and Kyle for coming out and helping with lighting and of course making sure no injuries claimed our model. Excited to get back out there and shoot some more!
