The sun was shining and the temperature was slightly chilly so model and photographer trekked on through a forgotten gem snapping away gleefully. Today I decided to push myself and work in a location I’ve never seen and with a model I’ve only worked with once and that one time was for maybe an hour including hair and makeup time that to my knowledge had never shot on location previous to this day.
Brittany Ray is a beautiful person on the inside and obviously on the outside. One of her most unique features is that gorgeous skin that is whiter than a scared ghost out in the sun. Many ask me how difficult it must have been to photograph her, but being the crafty photographer that I am I knew that I could capture great imagery without any issue.
Shooting in the kind of places I tend to drift towards means that I have to shoot quickly and efficiently all while trying to find great light. What I mean by finding great light is that I prefer natural lighting as it’s faster and gives a certain feel I find works best with the final image. Also, this means I get to pack light and use my favorite lenses more than the usual amount.
Running by the seat of my pants seems to be the direction I go in life and is most evident in my style of photography, which if you haven’t followed me on a shoot yet I’ve heard is quite a treat. This shoot was no different with it being an old abandoned house that I had never been in, with a model I’ve never worked with on location and it was cold out. Moving quick definitely helps get the blood flowing, but you can’t help feeling bad for a 100 lb woman standing in mid 30 temperatures while in a tiny dress and is standing nearly still for minutes at a time. I’m not heartless so she did have time to warm up and we did go out in the sun a few times to get a good blast of heat. This quick-moving style can be beneficial to the model as it gives her something new to work on and limits boredom.
The building we shot in had soooo much to offer. From a crazy awesome couch to the amazing shower stall that was just crazy to shoot in. As you can see from the pictures we traveled a bit and while still in the same outfit, still managed to grab some good looks and plenty of variety. We shot for about an hour, which is typical for a really good model and I truly believe that Brittany is a great model regardless of her experience so that hour was jam-packed with awesomeness. Thank you so much Brittany!!!
I don’t have too much more to say so if you have questions about certain images or would like some more insider info please feel free to message me. Hope you’ve enjoyed all the hard work Brittany put in to modeling and my haphazard shooting style that tends to give me a decent image from time to time. Oh, stay tuned for another latest shoot writeup as I had two photoshoots today and will finish editing the other shortly.
