Stills in Motion

Capturing a single moment in time that expresses emotion and feeling is what drives me to pull the trigger on each and every shoot, but when the opportunity came today to be part of creating and directing a feature length film I jumped in joy at the chance to experience an art form I have no previous relationship with. So can this freeze frame guy make the quick transition to capturing things moving at 30 frames per second? I’m hoping so, because the amount of effort that this is going to take is going to push me to the limit of what I’m capable of and then ask me for more.

I have to be completely honest and say that I do have some idea of capturing video as I do have a cellphone and I also owned an 8mm camcorder that I used maybe a half dozen times.

Hopefully this will be enough training to make a film worthy of the efforts and pure sweat and tears that will be shed putting this together. You do understand that I am slightly insane and realize that any challenge brought in front of me is doable with the right attitude and the proper amount of dedication. Can we say, “up a creek without a paddle!?”

Knowing that I have no idea what I’m doing and the crew most likely has no faith in me I’m going to trek forward like I’ve never high stepped it before. This concept was put together around 9pm on Friday March 18th and we already have a fair storyline and have begun the inner workings of scene 3 without skipping scene 1 or 2. I consider this a small success in the torturous road that follows. My concern right now is that I truly do not know what the next step is and not sure where to start looking besides hitting google up. Oh how sad it is knowing that you know nothing except that you have the passion to succeed at the tasks at hand.

What I do know so far is that we need bodies, lots of bodies. Need some lead

characters, definitely need extras and locations to put these bodies in. The adventure usually start simple, but this one has started with the complex and will only get even more confusing as time goes on. If you’re reading this right now and might be interested in being part of the shenanigans please feel free to contact me. Being desperate means that anyone can be anything at this point and I’m definitely not super picky.

I’m off to start working on a possible cast list and decide what phone calls I need to make in the morning so we have someplace to shoot the film. Keep coming back and I’ll have more here on the blog as we progress and hopefully give everyone sneak peaks throughout the process. This should definitely be an exciting behind the scenes look at a world that I haven’t even experienced yet.
